Organized in folders titled as followes: "California" [drawings of coastline], "Astronomical", "Montecito, Mount Diablo" [sketches
of scenery, etc.], "Sketches, foreign travel" [from 1875, boats, coastlines, pyramids], "Sketches of headlines [headlands?],
mountain ranges, etc." [accompanied by photographic prints], "Early sketches, back to 1833", "Transit of Venus station, 1882".
Other items show towns in Alaska (Sitka, Kodiak, Nulato(Yukon), Indian villages), and the Davidson glacier. Many sketches
of the approach to the San Francisco Bay. Some done for Davidson's "Coast Pilot."
